Spread the Love- Share Your Blogs Here!

Yesterday I participated in the Spread the Love Challenge by creating ten four-word sentences about love.  Today, and throughout this weekend, I would like to spread the love by asking bloggers to share their work here.

Since I began my blogging experience last September I have found that, with a few minor exceptions, the blogging community is one of love, support, and encouragement.  I would like to pay it forward by offering everyone a place to share a link.  I do not have a huge audience like our friend Jason over at Harsh Reality, but I am growing a wonderful group of friends here at Fill Your Own Glass with nearly 400 followers. (Thank you, thank you, and thank you a million times for clicking that little button!)

Please leave a brief one- to- two sentence description of your blog, and leave a link to a post you have written that you love.  Chances are if you love it others will, too! I will get us started here:

Fill Your Own Glass is my place to share my journey from being a pessimistic, negative person to one who looks to each day with realistic optimism.  In the post I wrote that I love I tackle the delicate subject of choosing to remain childfree by using a playful metaphor.  You can find it here.

I would love it if you would all jump in and share your blog, along with a link to a post you wrote that you love.  Love is in the air, my friends!  Jump on in!  Pssssttt….this means you, too, silent readers out there.  I follow you for a reason, so come on out and strut your stuff!  All are welcome to leave your link – you need not follow this blog (though I cannot imagine why you wouldn’t…)!  Also, if you leave a link make sure you visit a few as well!

Note:  My blog is for the most part upbeat and encouraging, and while I overuse profanity in my daily life I do avoid it on my blog.  That does not mean that I do not read bloggers who use it, because I do, and I enjoy them immensely.  If you are one of those bloggers, or if you are sharing a post that is adult-themed, please note that in your comment (either by NSFW, over 18, or mature-themed, etc.).

Cheers!
Karen

  1. I love posts like these, I always find new blogs to follow! I write about my life, my views, books, movies…there is no set theme. From my “About” page: “While I look for beauty, humor or the silver lining in all situations I’m not afraid to admit that sometimes life is about navigating tenebrous depths.
    But hey, it beats death.”
Here’s one of my favorite posts about dating a clown school dropout: http://fanniefrankfurter.com/2015/01/28/i-dated-a-clown-college-dropout/

    • Yours was one of the first blogs I followed. You write so well, you are a natural born storyteller. Surprisingly, given my introverted nature, as a child I was determined that I would go to clown college and become a famous clown with Ringling Bros. It seemed so glamorous when I was ten!

I’m glad you stopped by to drop a link so others can enjoy your wonderful writing! I have found several new blogs to follow as well- I love it!

  2. What a great way to spread the love!
I write for both industry insiders and the rest of the world about the goings-on in my land of fine jewelry. Reliable information, pretty pictures, a dash of fashion, and a few good laughs can be found in just about every post. It’s a young blog yet and I’m still finding my feet, but I welcome feedback with open arms.
I invite you to share a slice with me over at http://pieceofkaratcake.com/

  3. Great way to share the love Karen! I always love reading what you write because it is soo real and honest! And I absolutely agree we have a great blogging community that is so supportive!

Here’s a link to my Valentine’s day post…not really about love necessarily but loving nature =) https://smilinginsonoma.wordpress.com/2015/02/17/sonoma-coast-sunset/
My blog is a place for me to share our experiences in beautiful Sonoma County, CA from hiking to food to wine and everything in between and really I needed a creative outlet from daily life as an accountant. =)

This is sort of a great way to see who follows you and all the other like minded bloggers! I have enjoyed checking our their posts!

    • Yay! I am happy you came by to leave a link, and that you are taking the opportunity to visit some other blogs. I must encourage everyone to stop by your blog- your pictures are always stunning, and the narratives that go along with them are simply wonderful! I love that we share a similar outlook on nature and on life in general. 🙂

  4. Thank you so much for this generous opportunity. My blog is mostly hosted by Millie, a highly literate Lurcher who loves to post about her life with me and her foster sister Pearl the Greyhound In this post, she offers an alternative explanation for why our homes can sometimes get in such a mess.

  5. Thank you for this opportunity! I love these posts, I always find a couple of new blogs to ponder and follow!

My blog is simply a little timeline of life for me – things that have happened, things I’ve seen and experienced, and just general things I’d like to write about.

This post is about family, who they are to me. It’d be great if you could have a read 🙂

I’m thrilled you chose to leave your link, and I do hope other bloggers take advantage of the opportunity to read your insightful posts. 🙂

  7. Just went through most of the comments and there is so much awesomeness going on out there, it’s insane! Thank you for this! I blog at http://www.saharsblog.com where I share random musings from an overactive mind, mostly about community building and personal development. Why? Because if something big is going to happen–like world peace–it will happen from the grassroots up! I also know how to have some fun, such as with my X-Files Facebook Project. I recently lost a friend and was amazed by the flood of posts on my Facebook and the joy I felt amidst the grief, which inspired me to write this post: http://www.saharsblog.com/community/joy-part-strong-community-times-grief/.

    • This is a touching and inspiring post! It is amazing how supportive an online community can be. On the other hand, as one of your other posts noted, people can be rude and horrible online. I am a part of your kindness movement now! I’m glad you found your way here so that I could discover your blog! Thank you also for taking the time to visit some of the other bloggers- that is what makes this work! Best, Karen 🙂

  8. What a great way to find new blogs to read, while sharing love. I started my blog last year, and it is about me following my writing dreams. I write about disability, facing fear, relationships, sisterhood and whatever else inspires me. Last December, I wrote a love letter to my sister Mary Jane, explaining the progress I’ve made in keeping my promise to her. You can read it here: https://deescribesblog.wordpress.com/2014/12/29/promises-fulfilled/

  10. Thank you Karen for the opportunity to share our blogs here. I recently, like 2 days ago, moved from WordPress.com to a self hosted site and I am tryin’ to get my current followers to join me and gain new ones at the same time. You are right. the bloggin’ community is awesome and bloggers like you, Opinionated Man, LindaGHill and a host of others are the bread and butter.

So, with that bein’ said, I would love it if you and others would visit The Hillbilly Blogger at http://thehillbillyblogger.com and a post that I wrote yesterday that I find amusing, http://thehillbillyblogger.com/2015/02/28/long-lost-but-now-found/

  11. Brilliant post and idea!!

I started blogging last year because I was struggling to find a job after so much promise with my degree and qualifications, all of which I put tons and tons of hard work and time into. So I took a long, hard look at my life and considered all the things I really wanted to do and fashion, menswear, writing and styling all came out on top so I started my blog http://suedeandsymphony.com – it still looks slightly amateur but I’m in the process of revamping it into a more professional looking site.

I like to consider my style different from others because of my ethnic origins and my outlook on life. I try to inject a bit of my background into every post so it’s personal but still relatable for everyone. I hope you guys enjoy reading my posts and if you do, please leave a comment somwhere as I’d love to hear from my readers!!

Thanks so much for leaving your link. 🙂

    • Glad you stopped by to drop your link, Sabina! I also just read your most recent post about your first “jail” experience. One of the things I enjoy most about the blogging community is that we can see things from different perspectives, yet we can converse and debate about them in a considerate and respectful manner. This is quite different from other social media platforms where people rip one another limb from limb! Your posts are always relevant and insightful, and they give me cause to stop and consider my own viewpoints. I hope others will visit your blog as you are an incredibly talented writer! 🙂

      • Thank you so much!! I agree that the blogging community is great for conversation and being exposed to different viewpoints in a respectful way. I think it’s because people are writers, and more interested in longform discussion than the 140-character limit on Twitter (which has other advantages, but thoughtful discussion is not one of them).

  13. How nice of you to share the blog love! I look forward to discovering all these bloggers.

My blog is a collection of various silly stories taken from my life as a brash accountant, perpetually single girl with horrible dating disasters and a profound love of both boxing and ballet.

  14. I haven’t been blogging long but my possession of a blog stems mainly from my avid love of writing and words 🙂 I mostly write about topics that I find interesting or things that I want to make people aware of. My most recent blog post was about board games and how under-rated they’ve become as a result of technology and other means of modern entertainment. The link is here: https://fromonetothenextblog.wordpress.com/2015/03/01/the-lost-age-of-board-games/ and I hope that you enjoy reading this blog and that it encourages you to read some of my other posts too 🙂

My blog began as a dam breaking in my long-lived journey toward writing. I’m still feeling me out. Here’s one of my latest pieces, and the most well received so far, thanks to Dark Night Chronicles (felicityjones.com) who was kind enough to share it as well.

My blog “Wir Unst Family” is a genealogy blog, which may not interest everyone, but the post I’ve chosen to link here is more just a story about a guy who knitted which is less full-on family history and more social history perhaps? https://unstmorag.wordpress.com/2013/11/10/knitting-is-womens-work/

I also have another blog at https://moraghughson.wordpress.com where I write a very random collection of things, so much so that I’m not sure any description would cover it!

    • Hi Michele,
Thank you for coming by! I love this post that you shared, and I agree with you about the Nook (or Kindle) being a poor substitute for a real book. The advances in technology are amazing, but they do seem to remove the human element.
I tried to follow you under the Networked Blogs link, but it would not allow that unless I logged in through Facebook. Maybe that is deterring some people from following? I did follow by email, but that doesn’t show up in your numbers. I am sure you must have more than two followers if you count email followers! I look forward to reading more. 🙂

  17. Hi! I’m just a teen blogger who enjoys: offering advice to young girls, writing beauty product reviews, trying out new challenges and projects, blogging about life events. On top of all that, I have several health issues that I blog about to encourage others including my juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, endometriosis, and fibromyalgia. I hope that my writing lifts people up and supplies some humor! I don’t have a favorite post, I think you should explore my Simple Things page for topics that interest you!
